The Rydal Academy publicly consulted on their Admission Arrangements in February 2020 and are due review in 2026 or following significant changes. Admission Arrangement are reviewed and determined through the Governing Body annually.

Once you have completed the admission form and returned it to Darlington Borough Council, they will forward the form onto the school.
The school will then arrange a date and time for you to come in and have a look around with your child. At this appointment you will be given a pack of forms to fill in that the school requires to put your child on roll. Once the forms and a copy of your child’s birth certificate are returned to the school a start date can be agreed.
NURSERY ADMISSIONS
In line with Local Authority guidelines children start Nursery the term after their third birthday. However, if spaces are available children are invited to start Nursery from their third birthday. They are invited for a visit with their families before starting. The initial length of the sessions can be varied according to the need of each individual child.

RECEPTION ADMISSIONS
New starters in Reception follow a programme of induction, which begins towards the end of their Nursery education. Children have a half day visit to our Reception class prior to their September start date. Parents/Carers are also invited to an induction meeting. At the start of the Autumn term all new starters begin school on day one with full day sessions unless an individual transition plan is agreed with parent/carers.

DEFERRAL PROCESS AND ADMISSIONS OUTSIDE OF AGE GROUP

DATA PROTECTION (CONSENT/CONTACT FORMS)
During admission to the school we send out consent and data checking forms for confirmation of details and signature as part of the school induction pack. Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, school must ensure that the information held about young people is accurate and up to date. We request any change of details be forwarded to the office staff as soon as possible. School also sends a Privacy Notice which explains the data held on your child/ren.
