At the Rydal Academy, we aim to offer children a broad RE curriculum which provides opportunities for children to acquire and develop their knowledge and understanding of Christianity and the other principal key religions in the local community and the UK: Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Judaism and Buddhism.
This knowledge will help children to develop an in-depth understanding of the influence of beliefs, values and traditions on individuals, communities, societies and cultures.
Children will be encouraged to ask questions about the world and to reflect on their own beliefs, values and experiences. They will make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues, with reference to the teachings of each religion.
We believe that our curriculum encourages empathy for different religious beliefs and values and enables children to develop their own ideas and identities. This will, in time, help them to become well informed human beings who can live together peacefully with others and contribute to a respectful society.
Parents/carers have a right to withdraw their children from all or part of RE. Please contact the school office directly if you would like this to be the case.
